German EPC provider KRAFTWERK Renewable Power Solutions announced this month that it secured an additional 3+ MW in its pipeline of commercial rooftop PV plants in Germany. Having obtained the project rights and secured the investors, KRAFTWERK will develop rooftop plants for a recycling company and two agricultural companies, all of which are located in Brandenburg.
“We are more than pleased with our progress over the past couple of years. While our pipeline continues to expand, our role as an EPC provider is becoming more predominant”, says Karsten Schulte, KRAFTWERK’S Managing Director, and adds, “Our investors are eager to invest in the German rooftop market; there is significant potential in the future.”
KRAFTWERK has established itself as experts in PV plants for industrial rooftops. A recent installation, a 3.3 MW utility-scale rooftop PV plant that KRAFTWERK developed and installed end of 2015 in Berlin-Brandenburg, was showcased by the German Umweltbank at this year’s Intersolar Europe.
100% of the electricity generated will be marketed directly. According to Karsten Schulte, “It really is a shame that the new EEG 2017 framework does not accommodate industrial rooftop projects larger than 750 kWp in combination with self-consumption, especially when considering the amount of rooftop space available in Germany… Unfortunately an important contribution to the German Energiewende will be lost.”
