Net metering authorisation in Chile

KRAFTWERK successfully secures net metering authorisation for photovoltaic components manufaturers.

The net metering law enacted September 2014 in Chile enables owners of residential and commercial PV systems < 100kW to be paid a fixed tariff rate for surplus energy injected into the country’s national grid. To participate in the net metering program photovoltaic modules and solar inverters must be authorised by Chile’s electric and power body “Superintendencia de Electricidad y Combustibles” (SEC). The SEC monitors compliance with laws and regulations in accordance with the Grid Code. “To date we have secured certification for various manufacturers of solar panels including Suntech, Canadian Solar and JA Solar,” said David Sanmartín Catalán, KRAFTWERK’s Business Development Manager in Santiago de Chile. “KRAFTWERK’S local expertise and extensive knowledge of the Chilean market has proven to be a valuable asset when applying for SEC certification”.
