Venture To The Pacifics

Off the coast of Chile, in the middle of the Pacifics, we found Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, where the famous stone statues permanently reside.

As global warming worsens, the glaciers melt, the first ones that will be hit are the ones living on islands. For acting on climate change, the hotel owner on Rapa Nui came to KRAFTWERK for sustainable energy solutions. The KRAFTWERK team took the project, flew half of the globe, set our foot on the island of Rapa Nui, and started our feasibility study on the island.

To plan for a solar PV project, we need to have a deep understanding of the weather conditions, the customers’ daily usage of electricity, and potential financing models that could support the project for our customers. It is only when we could provide such analysis and proposals to our customers, that we would move forward to start the project planning and construction. The feasibility study provides our customers an overview from all aspects of the projects: technical and financial. It also serves as a transparency to our customers for what could be achieved with their solar PV systems.

After several trips to Rapa Nui, we leanred much more about the island, the culture, the wonderful people, and we also finalized our feasibility study for the hotel in December 2018! A positive result is leading us further on this island flowing with mysterious breeze.
